Day 3 of my month-long "Daily Dispatch", recovering from the madness that was the Beyonce Formation last night. I had some friends over before the concert and after one of them spotted my black Arizona Birkenstocks in the corner and remarking, "I can't picture you in Birkenstocks". My mind was instantly transported to these fun, light and easy to slip on slides for summer. I'd bought my Birkenstocks in Berlin a few years ago but they'd since been relegated to the occasional run to the supermarket or to take out the trash. I needed a new shoe that was lightweight, bright and more reflective of my personality.

Enter the latest version of People's Footwear "Lennon Chiller" with a lively update from Portland-based Poler.

Years ago I remember someone describing troll dolls as "so ugly they're cute" and I think that line aptly applies to the latest collab from People footwear and Poler collab. The drop is comprised of two "so wrong they're right" colour combos the first being 'junk food" inspired and consisting of bubblegum pink, mint and aqua. The second is a traditional camo colourway with contrasting red-orange straps.

I'll admit when these high-performance sandals first arrived in my inbox - I wasn't sure. At first glance, I thought I could probably only pull off the camo. But the more I looked and thought about what I'd wear these with, the more I wanted both. I could imagine wearing the bubblegum pink and mint pair with white ripped denim and an oversized tee, or to play up the "bad taste is good taste" element and pairing them with neon swim trunks for lounging by the pool. The camo might be the "safer" choice for most of you - wear them with everything from indigo and black denim to camo joggers and white shorts.

The last thing I'd like to point out about these shoes is the shocking but on-trend combo of neoprene and criss-cross webbing. My Christopher Kane high-tops feature the same unusual fabric combo and even my tuxedo shoes from Kurt Geiger juxtaposed criss-cross elastic webbing with patent leather. Neoprene makes for a surprisingly comfortable shoe, that's lightweight durable in questionable London weather and on the cutting edge of shoe innovation.

The collection which has already been featured on HighSnobiety and Hypebeast, will be released in limited quantities worldwide this July.
