Summer is in full swing, and I've managed to carve out a little time for a midweek city-break. A few months ago, I shared some of 6 my packing essentials (here!) with a little help from Mr. Porter's weekend getaway edit.
Fast forward another few months and I received a travel kit from Mr. P with all the luxe travel items I'd need to make the most of my summer holiday plans. It should come as no surprise to learn that the team at Mr. Porter had literally thought of everything ... a monogrammed leather luggage tag from Shinola, printed bathing suit, travel size toiletries and even a journal and custom postcards for documenting the trip. All that was left for me to do was pick a destination!
While I mulled over the perfect locale, I figured it was time to update the essentials for high-summer. Below I've listed some key pieces for warmer climates. Throw in some tank tops, bracelets and the new black Nike MayFly's I've been wearing everywhere and you're ready! Bon Vacance!
Whether it be a beach or pool, I'm opting for swimwear brand Frescobal Carioca's geometric printed swim shorts and linen towels. Inspired by the vibrancy of Rio De Janiero - the collection is both on-trend (hello, Rio!) and timeless with it's simple yet eye-catching prints in a classic palette. The super-luxe towels are extra large and can double as a picnic blanket should you decide to hotfoot it from the water to a nearby dune. You can shop the line, (which was inspired by the Carioca lifestyle!) here!
I'm a sucker for sunglasses, although I prefer to keep to keep my shades in the entry-level price point (raybans suit me just fine) as I used to be quite prone to forgetting or breaking pairs. I've since curbed that sense of carelessness and as a result have amassed quite the collection of Raybans with a few special pairs from Margiela, Lanvin and House of Holland. If you've come here looking for the tired old "round frames suit a square face" you can look elsewhere. I've never been one to obsess over "what shape is right for my face" and instead just pick up pairs and start trying, if you feel good - then you'll look good! Shop Mr. Porter's edit of sunglasses here and add some necessary YAY to your vacay looks.
Dries Van Noten
If there was a moodboard or brief for my upcoming trip [and I promise, there isn't ;)] It would read something like this, "Luxe global traveller, picking up heirloom pieces and prints along his journey" and then "Print on Print on Print". Of course If you've checked out my instagram or read any previous posts you know just how much I love print, and how often I sing the praises of the Prince of Prints himself, Mr. Dries Van Noten. If you're looking to add a worldly spin to your wardrobe get into the selection of Dries at Mr. P. Here you'll find ethnic prints, and louche shapes perfect for elevating your existing wardrobe. While the online selection has already moved on to Autumn/Winter you'll still find some great pieces you can wear now. Think poplin shirts in collaged prints and patterns, embroidered vests and accessories galore. Explore the latest from Dries here
